| Description | If I would use Cinelerra for the first time, and go to the preview video, then it is extremely pixelated, almost beyond recognition. I think these settings are too low, beginners would wonder how bad Cinelerra is and unnecessary questions would arise. I would set this setting at least a bit higher so that it doesn't give the impression something is broken. For me the "Vicon memory size" value 300 and "Vicon color mode" value "Med" would still be acceptable. | ||||

You are right, BUT it simply uses a lot of memory and a lot of CPU to initially create the previews and we do not want to create problems for users that have older computers with less memory. Since the default setup for a user who has never used cin before has the preview turned on and it certainly is not very obvious how to turn it off, we do not want to immediately slow them down with "rendering" the images and using a lot of memory -- that too would leave a very bad impression. These same new users probably would not know that using the mouse wheel makes it larger so they would not do that. Then when the do figure out the wheel, perhaps they will read Features pdf file and change the settings. Or else they should use the Forum! It is always a balancing act, so we will not close this unless you have been convinced that this is OK and close it. |
