| Summary | 0000054: Shortcut digits keys for forward/backward don't do what they should | ||||
| Description | When editing a video, it is very handy if you can go single frames forward and backward with a single key, so one hand can stay on the mouse. The pop-up tooltip for the single frame forward/backward shows both digits 1/4 and alt-j/alt-u respectively. The alt- sequences works, but is slow to do with one hand. If possible, re-enable the use of single digits to control motion. | ||||

Change: I just discovered the list of keyboard shortcuts under the icon in the upper right of Cinelerra, and those single digits are already used. Then only the pop-up tool tips needs to be changed, so the single digit entries are not there anymore (just the alt- sequences). |

A lot of keyboards contain a KeyPad to the right of the alphabetic keys. On this keypad are the number 0-9 and a few more. The 1/4 in the tooltip refer to KeyPad 1 and 4; other transport tooltips refer to other numbers on the keypad. The alt-j/l and so on were added in the last year because a lot of non-US keyboards or smaller laptops did not have the Keypad included. So, yes the tooltop is somewhat misleading but is historical and no one wants it to be too wordy, If this wording is acceptable as is, please say OK to close this issue. Thanks. Glad you discovered the shortcuts document, which is also in Features5.pdf. |

Hi Phyllis, Indeed it works with the keypad. I never use that, so missed it. I also didn't recognize in the shortcuts that KP1 means keypad 1. I guess I need more coffee... Of course it's OK to close this. Thanks. |
