| Summary | 0000055: Add filmmaking/video editing sections to the forum | ||||
| Description | People who deal with editing usually have questions not only have them about software but also technical abilities. I think it makes sense to have a space where one can discuss such things (audio editing, video editing, maybe screenplay/cinema too), this would help creating a community of users around cinelerra which could discuss the technicalities of editing. Now if I want to know how to use feature X I can ask in the forum, but what about if I want an opinion on what framerate to use or if my idea could work or not?I need to go to another forum....Also two famous video editors (closed-source) which I won't mention unless you want me to, they have such sub forums and it really helps forming a community around the software. | ||||

We will gladly extend the forum. The forum also has the possibility to present subforums in a kind of Q&A style. What would you do differently? How would you name the topics? Only filmmaking/video editing? We are open for any suggestions. |

Hi Sam I look at other forums I follow I saw, feel free to use better names^^ I would recommend something like: - Forum announcements (for important news about the forum e.g. big forum update, security updates and so on) -Welcome area (to present yourself, why do you use cin etc.) - Video Editing (for questions related to video editing with cin) - Audio editing (for questions related to audio editing with cin) - Everything else (for threads regarding other topics like news,sports,hobbies) - Video/audio and other hardware (for cameras,mics, computers and so on) - 2d/3d effects (maybe only with open souce software?) - Screen play area (to discuss plots, scripts of your films/animations/documentaries) This would give good room for the community to develop. I don't know if we have a facebook/twitter page, but if we do mentioning that there is a forum would be good. To build a community takes time perhaps several months and you can't force users to use it, they have to come by themselves, so I think the best to do is just to create the space for discussions and wait:D |

Great! Thank you for your suggestions. I will collect some more ideas and revise the forum relatively soon. |

IMO, excellent proposals. Is it better to aggregate some items into subcategories to make the list less long or is it better to keep them separate to maintain greater visibility? Editing --> Video + audio + hardware. |

@Sam thanks! @ Andrea Paz I think it doesn't matter, I have seen both styles and I don't have any preferences maybe Sam decides? |

Thx guys. I collect still some ideas and at the end we can check whether the results are good. |

@WPFilmaler @Andrea Paz I have reworked the forum, it has been changed as far as possible on your suggestions. I created another subforum only for questions and answers, because there are features like voting. |
